Are humans bombs waiting to go off?
The question of would a person explode int eh vacuum of space was not in actuality created from historic events. Many believe this because it stems from sci fi movies where the character blows up because of the supposed decrease in pressure. This myth is extremely controversial because there are a multitude of perspectives on the subject. There are many who believe that your blood would boil due to the the decrease in pressure of one would quickly freeze due to the cold of a vacuum. This myth exists because it was thought that in a vacuum, due to the decreased pressure, one would explode because on a planets surface there are pressures inside the human body that counteract the pressures on the planets surface. Therefore, in a vacuum, one would explode. This was widely thought due to movies.
The basic veiws of those who dispute the myth are first those who believe due to the decrease in pressure, one would explode. Then there are those scientists that argue that one would not explode but in fact they would quickly die because their blood would boil due to the the decrease in pressure of that they would quickly freeze due to the cold. They last belie is that one's blood would neither boil or that they would freeze, these individuals believe that one would stay conscious for some short period of time in a vacuum then die because of the lack of oxygen.
the most credible of my sources says that in fact one would not explode in a vacuum , their blood would boil or they would freeze. This source was written and funded by nasa and for educational purposes, which is why it is the most credible source that i have to offer. My next credible source says that one would not explode in the vacuum of space but it also says that one 's blood would not boil and that one would not freeze, that an individual would stay concious for a small period of time such as a minute then they would die. No matter which of mky sourses you pick none of the information found supports the myth that na individual would explode in the vacuum of space.
